Broadsound Solar Farm is Hadstone's largest project — a 376 MWp solar farm at Clarke Creek, about 150 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton, in Central Queensland. Developed by Hadstone, it is now owned and was built by Iberdrola Australia, who also developed the co-located battery.
The project consists of 376 MWp (DC) of solar — roughly 610,000 panels across a site of some 900 hectares. It is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power about 145,000 homes.
Connected to the transmission grid
Broadsound connects to the transmission network at Powerlink's existing Broadsound substation. The co-located battery allows solar energy generated during the day to be stored and dispatched when it is most needed, helping to firm renewable supply across the region.
Approvals and construction
The project holds Development Approval from Isaac Regional Council. Construction began in early 2024, with a build programme of around two years supported by a temporary construction workforce of up to about 400 people. The site sits on the traditional lands of the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala People.
